Measles outbreak in Bangladesh

There is currently an outbreak of Measles in Bangladesh affecting thousands of people. Most of the cases are young children under 5 years old.
The general advice Public Health are giving to schools include:
- If any of the families you work with are planning to travel to Bangladesh this year, please advise that children’s vaccinations are up to date.
- Having two doses of the MMR vaccine is the best way to protect children and help prevent measles spreading.
- Please check children’s vaccination record. If children have missed one or both MMR doses, contact your GP practice.
