Apprenticeships Offer

Waltham Forest Apprenticeships currently have access to £1.8 million in funding for apprenticeships. This is a significant opportunity to invest in the skills gaps by providing up-to-date and relevant training.
Here is an overview of the apprenticeship programmes the council can support to enhance development opportunities within education:
Leadership: can be suitable for Teaching/Non-Teaching and non-schools
- L3 Team Leader – Aspiring leaders/supervisors looking at their first steps into leadership
- L5 Operations Manager – Front line managers who leading the services strategic goals – Head of Years/Curriculum
- L6 Chartered Degree Manager – Taking responsibility for the services long term success – Head of Service/Head Teachers, assistant/deputy Head Teachers
- L7 Senior Leader – (Available until 31 December 2025 for those over 21 years old, next cohort November 2025 with application closing October 2025) – suitable for Heads of Service/Assistant and Associate Directors and Directors – Assistant/Deputy Heads, Headteachers
Teaching:
- L3 Teaching Assistant – can be tailored to SEND, Sports, General
- L5 Specialist Teaching Assistant – 3 Pathways – SEND, Curriculum and Wellbeing
- L7 Teacher for Sensory Impaired – Available until 31 December 2025 for those over 21 years old
- L6 Undergraduate Teacher – full four years Teacher Degree Apprenticeship for those who do not already have a degree at 2:2 or above
- L6 Post Graduate Teacher – nine months Apprenticeship for those who already have a subject related 2:2 or above degree
- L5 Learning and Skills Mentor – Suitable for 14 to 16+ year old settings
Schools – Non-Teaching:
- Administration Assistant – suitable for those taking their first steps into a office/business environment – In development and when live only available for 16-19 year olds
- L3 Business Administration – suitable for those starting in a school office environment or business support roles
- L4 School Business Professional – suitable for aspiring SBM’s or SBM’s looking to develop
- L2 Accounts/Finance Assistant – suitable for those who have finance responsibilities – could develop into SBM’s
- L3 Assistant Accountant – responsible for finance within a school setting or service
- L2 Property Maintenance Operative – Aspiring Caretakers/Facilities managers
- L3 Facilities Management Supervisor – supporting the working environment for the schools buildings
- L4 Facilities Manager – For those who maintain the buildings
Children’s/Early Years:
- L3 Safeguarding Officer – supporting safeguarding responsibilities and demonstrate how organisations work to protect an individual’s health, wellbeing and human rights. Not just for schools’ settings
- L6 Early Years Teacher – working with children aged between 0 to 5 years old
- L4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner – both Residential Care and Community Pathways
- L5 Children, Young People and Families Manager – both Residential Care and Community Pathways
- L6 Speech and language Therapist – Providing Treatment support and care for children and adults
- L2 Playworker – caring for children and creating a stimulating space for children to explore and learn
- L5 Health Play Specialist - providing therapeutic play interventions to support children from birth to young adulthood in healthcare settings
- L7 Play Therapist – (available until 31st December 2025 for those over 21 years old) – Improving children mental health, wellbeing and learning capabilities
- L2 Early Years Practitioner – working with children from birth to 5 years old
- L3 Early Years Educator – day care, pre-school, reception, playgroups, nursey, social care and local authority settings
- L5 Early Years Lead Practitioner – Leading an early year setting
- L3 Youth Worker – supporting young people aged between 11-25 years to promote social and educational development
- L5 Youth Worker – enabling young people to develop through social and educational development
- L5 Youth Justice Practitioner – working with children who have offended or at risk of offending
