Thematic Review: Violence Affecting Black Boys
26 November 2025
This review examined 11 incidents between March 2023 and July 2024 where 14 children, mainly Black boys, suffered serious or fatal harm. The findings informed the Serious Violence Strategy, which focuses on reducing knife crime among young people under 25. Drawing on insights from children, case records, and professionals, the review identified key risk factors and lessons to prevent future harm. Community Safety and Safeguarding Partnerships are committed to embedding this learning into practice by prioritizing protection from risks outside the home, fostering anti-racist approaches, and delivering strategies that create real change and improve safety for all children.
