LoveReading4Kids Funding For Schools

LoveReading exists because reading matters, and books change lives.

It’s well-documented that reading for pleasure, and improving reading standards, has a huge impact on children’s wellbeing, academic achievements, and future success.

But the sad truth is, cuts to school funding means many children don’t have access to well-stocked libraries. Many don’t get to experience the magic of reading that may well have made you a reader for life.

As a result, LoveReading has created a way to redress that shortfall; an easy way for you to share the magic of reading through supporting a school in your local community – simply buy books through our bookstore, a platform with social purpose.

Funding for Schools Scheme

There are 2 ways in which LoveReading is  helping schools gain vital funds for Reading for pleasure books, and would love to have you involved and spread the news to the schools in your area. LoveReading.co.uk and LoveReading4Kids, the UK’s leading book recommendation website for children have launched an online bookshop with social purpose, in response to the book funding crisis in schools – in a move that’s been praised by the New Children’s Laureate.

When book lovers buy from the LoveReading and LoveReading4Kids bookstores, 25% of the cover price can be donated to a school of their choice, we have thousands of schools across the country already signed up and receiving their free books for school libraries and classrooms. Once they have signed up, they will gain access to their school page which will enable them to access their school dashboard where they can create reading lists, create wishlists and manage their credits.  We already have one trust in Nottinghamshire who has made two bulk buys of books and has allocated over £500 of free credits for a school in their trust to spend on reading for pleasure.

Schools can individually sign up here:

LoveReading4Kids Funding Scheme

LoveReading4Kids have also launched a LoveReading4Kids Funding for Schools Scheme, where schools can apply for up to £5000 to fund books with a specific focus on reading for pleasure. School libraries face a chronic lack of investment, with the most disadvantaged communities most affected: 1 in 8 primary schools in England do not have a library, and this jumps to 1 in 4 schools with a higher proportion of children on free school meals. The LoveReading4Kids Funding for Schools Scheme accepts applications from state funded schools in the UK.  Primaries, secondaries and early years’ settings are all eligible to apply.
