BACME

The Behaviour, Attendance and Children Missing Education (BACME) Service is a Council service formed from a number of legacy Council services.

All referrals and requests for BACME services should be sent to BACME-Referral@walthamforest.gov.uk or you can ring 020 8496 1718.

One of the current government's policies is to improve behaviour and attendance in schools. They are enhancing reforms to make sure teachers have the necessary powers to maintain discipline and improve attendance in schools. The schools white paper 'The importance of teaching' set out the government's commitment to give teachers more powers to deal with disruptive behaviour in school.

We offer a range of guidance for schools and colleges on behaviour, school attendance and licensing.

More information on services is linked to below or find out about our paid services from WF Traded Services.

Social Inclusion Service

The Council believes that all young people should be educated within their local mainstream school wherever appropriate. However, we recognise that mainstream education will not always be right for every young person all of the time.

We work with schools and parents to ensure children and young people are educated in the most appropriate setting for them and to deal with any issues that may arise.

This service is provided free of charge, as this is funded from the High Needs Block of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG).
