Nurture and Thrive (Supporting 0-2 year olds)
Baby room practitioners have a uniquely significant role; they influence sensitive human beings during the most formative period of life, this is a tremendous responsibility and privilege.
A baby's whole being is reaching out to connect and learn and you can help them.
Nurture and Thrive Project
‘Nurture and Thrive’ explores how to best support the youngest children to thrive. This project will guide practitioners working with babies and under twos to provide high-quality care, positive experiences and environments for the youngest in the setting.
The course aims to support practitioners to:
- Explore the importance of infant brain development and how this relates to attachment, play, and development.
- Consider the role of the adult and the importance of attachment and love.
- Discuss the developmental needs of babies, including schemas and how best to support them. Consider the importance of everyday routines and activities for developing communication and language skills.
- Explore the impact of sensory play including treasure baskets and heuristic play
- Understand the importance of effective, enabling environments, including outside and resources to best support infant development.
- Develop ways to build on parent partnerships.
- Reflect on current practice, identify strengths and areas for further development.
This programme is run twice an academic year, in the Spring term and Summer term. Booking via Traded Services
