If you would like to be considered to join our moderator pool for either KS1 or KS2 for this academic year, you will need to complete an application form even if you have been a moderator for Waltham Forest LA in the past.

Children and young people's gaming and gambling harm prevention training for professionals

The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) are working across all 32 London boroughs with the London Safeguarding Children Partnerships Leads to offer training

YGAM are committed to a social purpose to inform, educate, and safeguard children and young people against gaming and gambling harms. 

A report from the Children's Commissioner showed that 93% of children in the UK play video games. Research from the Gambling Commission shows that there are 55,000 11–16-year-olds in the UK classified as problem gamblers. As the leading harm prevention charity in this sector, YGAM provides evidence based CPD training which equips professionals who work with young people the knowledge, resources, and confidence to support, signpost, and safeguard. 

YGAM have arranged a number of sessions across the 11 January and 2 February for a range of professionals working in the London Boroughs

The FREE training sessions re relevant for teachers, youth workers, health professionals, social workers, foster carers, universities, and community leaders

BeeZee Bodies offer a range of FREE services to support families with children who are above their ideal healthy weight to learn about healthy eating, enjoyable exercise and making healthy habits that stick! 


BeeZee Families groups run over a 12-week course in 4 venues across Waltham Forest, as well as online! Our next groups begin 16 January 2023 and it's completely free to attend

DfE Early Years Census 2023

The DfE Early Years Census 2023 census date is Thursday 19 January 2023.

The Census will collect data on all children taking up free provision during census week (w/c 16 January 2023).

Providers must ensure child data is accurately maintained on Waltham Forest’s Early Years Provider Portal to reflect funded 2, 3 and 4-year-old children receiving free early education in their setting during census week.

The deadline to complete the online DFE EY Census 2023 Provider Data Form on Waltham Forest’s Early Years Provider Portal is Tuesday 31 January 2023. This will provide additional staffing and establishment information required for the statutory return.

Post 16 Making Sense of Autism

A raising awareness module for all staff within schoolage education settings. This training will give you a better understanding and awareness of autism and the way it affects pupils in school. This includes teaching and support staff, office staff, caterers, caretakers, transport staff, governors, employers and careers advisers.

Wednesday 25 January

KS1/2 Local Agreement Meeting

An opportunity for stakeholders to explore together moderation delivery models for June 2023 and aspects that should be considered as part of a local agreement 

Our discussion will include, although not necessarily be limited to, the following: 

  • Moderation notice periods
  • Number of moderators per school
  • Moderation delivery model
  • Pupil samples
  • Teacher release time for moderation

Stakeholders include anyone associated with the statutory moderation process and therefore include, although not limited to: Headteachers, Year 2 teachers, Year 6 teachers, assessment leads, those who have previously been moderators. The local agreement meeting will take place online on Wednesday 25 January 3:30 - 4:15pm

Holocaust Memorial Day - live testimony broadcast from Holocaust survivor, Hedi Argent

On Holocaust Memorial Day - Friday 27 January - we would like to invite you and your students to join us for a live broadcast of testimony from Holocaust survivor, Hedi Argent. 

From 11.30am until 12.30pm, Hedi will be sharing her testimony from the National Holocaust Centre and Museum. 

Hear about how life changed for Jewish people in Vienna after 1938. Hedi will be sharing her experiences of school life, Kristallnacht and her eventual escape to the U.K. in 1939. 

This will be followed by a question-and-answer session, the reading of a memorial poem and the lighting of candles.
