Speech and Language Services

Speech and Language support for children aged 0-5 in Waltham Forest is provided by the NELFT NHS speech and language team.

We seek to support children’s speech and language in the following ways:

  • Universal offer: share messages to help all children’s speech and language in Family Hub sessions, Best Start in Life website and Facebook page. Timetable April to August 2024
  • Targeted offer: Provide open access drop-in’s for families with children under 5 at Family Hubs and group sessions for children we’ve identified need short term support. Groups are intended to help families learn ways to support their child at home (these are available online where this suits the child/family needs)
  • Specialist offer: more in-depth assessment and specialist intervention for children who may need longer term help.
