Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
The purpose of Ofsted in the Early Years is to ensure that early years settings meet the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This includes providing a rich language environment, promoting physical activity, and promoting personal, social and emotional development. Ofsted’s inspections help to identify areas for improvement, and ensure that early years settings are providing high-quality care and education.
