Climate Confidence: teaching for climate action in and outside the classroom
The Hive is running free 1- day climate literacy and action training courses for Waltham Forest teachers that are taking a lead on climate and sustainability.
Waltham Forest maintained schools and academies are eligible to claim £100 towards the cost of supply teachers to enable staff to attend for a full day.
Radical Landscapes, Flourishing Futures
Join The Hive, the William Morris Gallery and other teachers for this half term’s Climate Action teach-meet.
Discover the current exhibition Ashish: Fall in Love and Be More Tender, 1 April to 10 September 2023 and future exhibition Radical Landscapes, 21 October 2023 to 18 February 2024. Together we’ll look at how we can use the local landscape creatively to inspire young people to envisage a flourishing future.
This event is suitable for all primary and secondary school teachers.
It will link directly to art, design technology, textiles, citizenship and geography curriculum with ideas for eco-teams and everyone with an interest in the environment and sustainability.

School Census: Summer 2023 Census Date
The deadline for maintained schools and PRU to submit a return to the local authority via COLLECT is 23 May 2023.
Academies and Free schools submit returns directly to the Department for Education (DfE) using COLLECT by DfE timescales.
Mental Health Awareness week
This year, Mental Health Awareness week runs from 15 to 21 May.
In celebration of this, the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families have provided a Mentally Healthy Schools toolkit, for both primary and secondary schools, which can be downloaded for free.
