As part of the Early Careers Teachers (ECTs) page. This will take you through a step by step guide on Induction for Mentors.
Please note that all documents referred to will be available on WF Traded Services website.
1. Documents must be given to all mentors with ECTs
Please share if your colleagues are involved with the induction process and they have not received the documents via email. Tutors may have not been registered on ECT Manager and/or recently changed email addresses have not been updated on the system.
2. The Appropriate Body has the responsibility to monitor and quality assure
The quality of support ECTs receive with the ECT Induction in our schools. The QA (Quality Assurance) processes aim to quality assure the induction processes in schools as well as highlighting examples of effective practice for ECT Induction. A short form will be sent out shortly to be completed and returned as part of my quality assurance.
3. Ensure all mentors/tutors/headteachers/principals/ECTs have located their username and password
This needs to be in good time to reduce the panic at the end of term when assessments are due. Assessment deadlines for individual ECTs will be on their file, if an ECT started induction at the beginning of term, the first term ends at the end of term in December, term dates are in the handbook.
4. ECTs and school tutors are encouraged to log in to ECT Manager
They don't need to take any action once logged in but they can familiarise themselves with the system.
5. The Induction Mentor handbook have exemplar assessments
This standard is expected for termly assessments. If they are not completed satisfactorily, it will be rejected or returned for editing/amendments. The template forms can be tailored to suit the needs of your ECTs.
