Construction Jobsfest

London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) and SIMIAN in Leytonstone are holding a CONSTRUCTION JOBSFEST event on 18th September 2024 for young people to sample the practicalities of construction trades and gain insight into careers in the construction industry.

Thursday 19 September

The Green Careers Showcase

3.30pm to 7pm at the Walthamstow Wetlands. 

The Green Careers Showcase gives 16-25-year-olds the opportunity to find out about careers in the green sector, meet employers and take part in practical workshops.  

Last year, over 100 young people attended the event and met employers including Natural England, ZSL London Zoo, Thames Water, Capel Manor College and many more.  

At the Green Careers Showcase young people can find out about pathways to green jobs, training and employment opportunities. On the day, there will be:

  • Inspirational talks from young leaders in nature conservation  
  • Meet the Employer marketplace where young people can meet employers, training providers and other green partner organisations
  • Career skills workshops with practical advice and support on topics including CV writing and interview skills
  • Practical, hands-on workshops on skills including meadow management, wetland management and guiding wildlife walks
  • and much more

23 & 24 September | 1pm to 4pm

Safe & Together Model Overview Training

This one-day training provides participants with an introduction to, and overview of, the Safe & Togetherâ„¢ Model. The presentation provides participants with information about creating a domestic violence-informed child welfare system, the principles and components of the Safe & Together Model and information about the framework behind competency-building in child welfare around domestic violence. The training will be useful to anyone who works in the borough of Waltham Forest, and encounters families affected by domestic violence. 

The training objectives are:

  • To introduce a perpetrator pattern framework
  • To introduce and understand the Safe &Together Model principles and components and how those guide practice in various roles
  • To introduce how to use the Safe & Together Model to enhance good practice in various roles, reduce risk effectively and achieve better outcomes
