Tackling stigma and improving health and wellbeing in children and young people

10:00 - 10:30

Children growing up in poverty or experiencing poor health and wellbeing can feel different and left out, causing them to face stigma from their peers. This session will focus on key public health services and strategies, and encourage discussion on ways to reduce stigma in school.

Introducing Waltham Forest Family Hubs

11:00 - 12:00

This year we will be launching Family Hubs across our borough.  Our Vision is for all families in Waltham Forest have the support they need, when they need it, in easy reach of their homes.  Family hubs will be the heart of our neighbourhoods creating welcoming spaces for families to access a range of support services, wellbeing information, educational and fun activities designed to enable families to thrive throughout the life course of their family journey.

Giving under 5’s the Best Start in Life and school readiness

12:00 - 1:00

Overview of the Best Start in Life Offer and how it supports school readiness by supporting children before they take up their FEEE and school reception place as well support available via the Early Years Inclusion Pathway which supports early identification and timely support for children with learning & development delay and SEND.

Information and Update on the Waltham Forest Autism Strategy

1:00 - 2:00

The session will share information on the autism strategy and implementation plan, including any actions relevant to education currently in progress. The focus will be on how partnerships can be better built between the council and schools as well as across schools to improve outcomes for autistic students.

Managing a falling roll within our primary schools

2:00 - 3:00

Like many schools across London and Waltham Forest, St Joseph Infants and Juniors have been impacted by the falling numbers of primary aged children, which taken its toll on their financial stability. In 2021/22 they took the brave decision to move to deliver a mixed year curriculum with a focus on protecting outcomes for children and delivering a quality curriculum. In this session the Chair of Governors and Headteacher share their journey so far.
