All children in Reception Year 1 or Year 2 in state-funded schools are entitled to free school meals, regardless of whether their families get qualifying benefits or not.
To help maximise the pupil premium the schools receive, we carry out weekly checks to ensure no child or school misses out on their entitlement to UIFSM. We also inform parents who may be entitled to free school meals (FSM) once their child has left year 2.
Our service includes access to an online portal allowing you to view details for eligible pupils, a specialist officer and a dedicated telephone line for schools and parents. Our team is based within the Revenue and Benefit Service so in addition to responding to claims from parents we proactively identify families that may be entitled and invite parents to make a claim.
We check eligibility for pupil premium every week to ensure that no entitlement is missed. These checks are carried out without the need for schools to supply or check any information, removing unnecessary administration for you or your staff.
Applications are processed via the Capita ONE system. Alternative software can be used if required.
