Phonics Screening Check for Year 2 pupils in the 2021 Autumn Term

All state-funded schools, including academies, free schools and special must administer a past version of the phonics screening check to year two pupils in the second half of the 2021 autumn term.

Wednesday 3 November

School Census: Academies & Free schools

Autumn 2021: Deadline for Academies and Free schools to submit a return directly to the Department for Education (DfE) for approval and authorisation using COLLECT.

SBM Network Training Offer

Training Topic: Asset Management Workshop

As part of the EBE’s strategic Financial Recovery Plan, which will work with schools to provide support as they emerge from the global pandemic; developing skills and capacity is a key strand of the FRP. The training offer is aimed at SBMs and other staff with finance responsibilities in maintained schools. 

The sessions are FREE to maintained school staff and will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. To register your interest please accept the calendar invitation for the training session and ‘Join’ the meeting on the day.

Supporting & Advocating for Black and Asian Survivors of Domestic Abuse

This session will cover the work of Southall Black Sisters and share learning about their experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse who are Black (Asian and African-Caribbean) women.

Monday 29 November

Domestic Abuse & Immigration Status

This training provides practitioners with the opportunity to develop an awareness of what is available to domestic abuse survivors who are from outside the UK and/or have no recourse to public funds .

Including:

  • Supporting survivors with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
  • Protections for victims of domestic violence under the EU Settlement Scheme
  • Immigration status and Domestic Abuse

This session is open to volunteers and professionals working with families in Waltham Forest.

School Business and Office Manager Networks

The Waltham Forest School Business Managers Network meets every six weeks and provides free guidance and training to school business professionals in maintained schools.

Working with Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse

This session will include:

  • RISE interventions for domestic abuse perpetrators
  • Suitability criteria and referral pathways
  • Typologies of perpetrators and indicators of high risk
  • Common obstacles to working with perpetrators and motivational approaches
  • Multi-agency working and how to ensure best outcomes.
