Webinar: Staying Safe in Schools and Settings During COVID-19

On Wednesday 21 April 2021, the Council hosted a COVID-19 webinar on Facebook live with the latest information on local data, testing, vaccines and keeping schools and childcare settings safe.

Health and education professionals joined the Leader of the Council and covered topics ranging from all the safety measures in place in primary and secondary schools and SEN transport, as well as self-isolation support for parents and carers and mental health support available for children and young people during this time.

The panel also answered many questions from residents, including:

  • How long will my child have to wear masks?
  • Will there be a sports day as there is normally?
  • As my children are in school with classmates all day, can I have them around to play in the evenings and at weekends?

Please share this information and the link to the recording with your school community. You can view the recording here.

The panel included Cllr Clare Coghill (Leader of the Council), Cllr Grace Williams (Cabinet Member Children, Young People & Families), Joe McDonnell (Director of Public Health), David Kilgallon (Director of Learning and Systems Leadership), Prue Barnes-Kemp (Senior Executive Headteacher, Opossum Federation) and Andy Stone (Headteacher, Holy Family School).
