Waltham Forest Climate Summit

The Council are very pleased to announce the second Waltham Forest Climate Summit for schools and colleges is taking place from Monday 7 to Friday 18 November 2022.

Waltham Forest is putting young people’s futures at the heart of the response to the climate and ecological emergency. This fortnight long summit is a key moment for young people across the borough to learn about and feedback on Waltham Forest’s Climate Action Plan. The programme will include learning opportunities for staff as well as students and build momentum for taking action with the whole school community and collaborations across the borough.

The highlight of the summit this year is our partnership with VotesforSchools. They are producing a bespoke Climate Conference pack for KS2 and secondary schools which teachers can run with one or multiple classes together. Students will be able to compare their ideas and opinions to 1000’s of others across the borough via an online platform. The Suntrap Forest Centre team will be running the conference for student Eco-Committees at several host schools during the fortnight. Let us know if you have an Eco-Committee and/or if you could be a host school on the registration form.

This free WF Climate Summit will also include:

  • Teacher CPD session
  • Creative Climate Leaders: student panel event in collaboration with Creative Schools London
  • Film screening
  • And much more TBC

Please register your school’s interest and be the first to find out the full details in September 2022.
