The council and its schools relies on external payroll providers to supply payroll information for its financial accounts and statutory submissions to local government and Teachers Pension schemes.

It is a key requirement under the Statement of Accounting Standard No.70 that the payroll provider supplies their clients with an independent auditor’s statement with a description of the controls they have in place.

This statement will be used to give assurances that it can place reliance on a third party for the supply of its payroll records, Tax, NI and pension contributions.
