Suntrap on Tour

Suntrap Forest Centre, environmental educational centre will be closed for a £4.5 million refurbishment from July 2019 to April 2020. During the closure the team are on tour.

Open to the public the free Suntrap on Tour Waltham Forest library roadshow is sponsored by Great Place: Creative Connections scheme and funded by Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The roadshow launches at Walthamstow Library from Monday 2 September. At each library on the opening day there’ll be an adult workshop about the local natural heritage of Epping Forest and at the closing event families get the chance to meet some of the much-loved Suntrap animals. There are fun, interactive quizzes for both under and over 5’s along with a memory tree for everyone to share their recollections and commitments to ensure the local environment remains sustainable. The exhibition is packed full of entertaining stories shared by previous local school pupils.

Kerry Rolison Head of Suntrap said ‘Getting out and about on the Suntrap Tour, visiting schools, community events and venues is an exciting opportunity for us to bring nature nearer to everyone. Sharing our knowledge to encourage local people of all ages to have a love and respect for Epping Forest and the natural environment. We’re hoping that our roadshow will encourage schools to visit their local library and we look forward to reading messages on our memory tree’.
