State Funeral Bank Holiday Guidance

The Government has announced that there will be an additional bank holiday on Monday 19 September, to mark the occasion of the State Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Adopting the National Joint Council (NJC) local government advice, the Council will make no adjustment in the remuneration arrangements for term-time employees. We have decided that equivalent paid time off or pay will be given instead. This will mean that, term-time colleagues will receive the same pay but work one day less.

Where a part year, part-time employee would have been at work on the day of the Queen's state funeral bank holiday, they will have benefited from paid time off. Where a part year, part-time employee would not have been at work on the day of  the Queen's state funeral bank holiday, they will be entitled to a pro rata amount of this leave entitlement in lieu of this day, or offered paid time off at another time. This
will be locally managed by schools and can be managed on a case by case, basis.

Please find attached a calculator, which will aid Schools with working out entitlements for the small number of part time staff who would not have been working next Monday.
