New NCS experience this summer

We are excited to let you know about a unique opportunity for your Year 11/Year 12 students this Summer. NCS are offering a bespoke, two-week programme based from the comfort of your own school. The programme will be tailored to incorporate the aims and objectives of both NCS and your school.

Founded on the principles of social cohesion, social engagement and social mobility, NCS aims to make a life-changing difference to young people and how they approach life after school. The programme would consist of two consecutive weeks in July or August and is designed to help your students get the skills, experience and self-belief they need to achieve their potential through delivering sessions such as, adventure activities, enterprise workshops and community challenges before closing with your students creating and delivering a social action project for their local community. It could be a great programme to bring the year to a close, or equally you may want to bring your students back late August and use the programme as part of their induction.

The programme costs up to £50 per student (with bursary support for students on Free School Meals-price reduced to £10 if they are unable to pay the full fee). We can accommodate numbers based on the needs of your school, whether that is one class size or the entire year group.

The programme fits in with the Department for Education’s coronavirus operational guidance as it can provide support on skills and enrichment activity. Social action is used as an example of Outstanding practice in the area of personal development within the Ofsted framework. Furthermore, NCS directly supports schools with their efforts in meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks as part of the national careers strategy. NCS activities can be directly mapped to benchmarks 1, 5, 6 and 7.

If your school is interested in this opportunity, please get in touch with the NCS Head of Region, Colin Shaw (, as soon as possible to discuss this in more detail including the number of students you wish us to work with. Please note that we only have the capacity to deliver this to a limited number of schools so it will be on a first come first serve basis.
