Guidance update: Confirmed COVID-19 cases in settings

The Council's public health team have updated the COVID-19 guidance on the Hub. The updated documents can be found on the Hub suspected and confirmed cases page.

When you are notified of a positive COVID-19 case in a staff or child member at your school / setting, as a first step please follow the guidance in the Public Health England London Coronavirus Response Centre resource pack. If you wish to speak to someone regarding the steps outlined in the pack then you can call the DfE coronavirus helpline on 0800 046 8687 for advice.

Please ensure that you have:

  • Identified any close contacts if the case was in school whilst infectious and these have been advised to self-isolate for 10 days
  • Carried out cleaning as per the national guidance
  • Adapted the local letter templates for contacts of confirmed cases and the wider school community. These provide local information on how close contacts can access a PCR test and also information on support available whilst self-isolating
  • Notified as soon as possible by completing the minimum information form attached. This gives us important information about the Covid-19 situation across the borough and  Waltham Forest public health team can provide further bespoke advice and give local support, particularly if you have multiple cases in your setting. Where appropriate, larger outbreaks will be reported to Public Health England who can provide further input and advice.
