Envirocure temporary closure
24 March 2020
The council has been informed by Envirocure that they will be undertaking a temporary closure during the Lockdown Period.
It is currently predicted that schools will not be tested for one or two months.
The advice from NPS and Envirocure is to keep water heaters operating and pumps circulating in the hot water systems and to flush the water weekly for two minutes where the water is not otherwise in use.
Mains cold water carries a small amount of residual chlorine that protects the water for a day or two but this dissipates and as the water heats to room temperature the risk increases if the water is not used for a few more days, weekly flushing clears the warmer cold water and brings in fresh chlorinated water.
The schools asset manager will keep schools updated of any changes.
