Digital Month is back this November

This November Digital Month returns for its fourth year, as Waltham Forest Council works with residents to develop digital skills and forge connections across the borough.

The borough’s ‘Digital Champions’ will be in all our libraries at drop-in sessions throughout the month, helping people who need support to get online and use the internet. An evening social event is planned at the end of November to say ‘thank you’ to volunteers and offer opportunities to network and celebrate together.

George Read, a Waltham Forest Digital Champion explains how he helped people book a holiday and assisted older people to better understand their email accounts and improve their typing skills.

“It’s a great way to learn new things and gain new skills - but also to make friends,” he says.

Other exciting events planned this November:

  • Two Hackathons: the objective of this year’s Hackathons is to build a ready-to-launch Local Business Directory for businesses in the borough and encourage local businesses to network. Digital agency, Origin, will host a social media engagement masterclass at the first event.
  • Waltham Forest Tech Camp – an annual event to ‘upskill’ and support school students and jobseekers to find work, followed by a Careers Fair.
  • Four free digital skills workshops in partnership with Age UK for adults aged 50+
