Competition: Supporting D&T and engineering in your schools

Schools across Waltham Forest can take advantage of this free opportunity to bring D&T and STEM learning to life in the classroom.

(Leaders Award) www.leadersaward.com are running a national competition called ‘If you were an engineer, what would you do?’ This is a free UK-wide, STEM competition which requires primary and secondary pupils from 3 to 19 to interview engineering professionals and then design a solution to a problem in response to the question, ‘If you were an engineer, what would you do?’

The project is curriculum aligned and has all the lesson plans and resources to support it available on their online platform. It aligns with six of the Gatsby benchmarks (A stable careers programme, learning from career and labour market information, addressing the needs of each pupil, linking curriculum learning to careers, encounters with employers and employees and providing experiences of workplaces) and fits in to the curriculum at all stages. It also supports schools to bring engineering to life, one of the biggest areas of career opportunity we currently have.
