Children's Art Week - 29 June to 19 July 2022

Children’s Art Week is taking place from Wednesday 29th June to Tuesday 19th July 2022. The Council is running an exciting competition to celebrate children and young people’s artwork. The winning entries will be displayed and used on various promotional material as part of storytelling events taking place across the borough. The competition will be divided into three categories:

  • Under 5’s
  • Primary (including reception)
  • Secondary

Entries submitted should be an A4 size piece of artwork related to the child’s or young person’s favourite story. We will be selecting three winners from each category who will receive a £50 local Shop Voucher.

To take part in the competition, we are asking schools to submit one entry per category relevant to your school/setting.

We are hoping that you will support your children and young people to participate in this competition. If you choose to take part in this competition, please display the attached flyer at your school so that children/young persons who would like to take part will be aware that you are participating and they can submit their entries through your school.

Submissions should include

  • category
  • child’s name
  • age
  • school or setting name
  • the story that the artwork relates to

Submissions can be sent to us via email to or posted to:

All entries must be submitted by Friday 15 July 2022

If for any reason your school/setting chooses not to participate in the competition but a child/young person wishes to submit their artwork independently, we would ask that you signpost them to submit their entry to any of the local libraries or children and family centres across the borough. The submissions should include:

  • category
  • child’s name
  • age
  • the story that the artwork relates to
  • Parent/Carer contact details (telephone and email)

Once we have received the submissions from each setting/school across each category, the Councils Storytelling Operational Delivery Group, who are leading on the delivery of the storytelling programme will cast their vote to pick a winner across each category.

The winners from each category will be contacted by Thursday 20 July 2022.
