2021 Trends in Careers Education
17 December 2021
The Careers and Enterprise Company have launched a new report on Wednesday 15 December 2021: 2021 Trends in Careers Education. The report analyses the changes in careers education over the course of the pandemic, comparing data from 2019 to 2021. Â
Based on the experiences reported by nearly 4,000 schools and colleges (78% of the total), and drawing on wider evidence published during the last year, this report looks at six trends:Â
- Careers education became more prominent in the curriculum
- Innovation helped young people to engage with employers despite the impact of the pandemic
- There was information about apprenticeships in the education system, but there is work to do to convert interest to uptakeÂ
- There was an increased focus on individuals and their context through personal guidance, links to the labour market and digital tools
- Training and local collaboration led to increased progress
- New evidence shows that improving careers provision leads to better outcomes for young people
